City of Culture and Carthage Music Days Join the International Silk Road Festivals Network
Tunisia’s Ministry of Cultural Affairs announced that, on Saturday, October 17, 2026, the Cité de la Culture Chedli Klibi and Carthage Music Days were officially admitted to the Network of Silk Road Arts Festivals, marking a new step toward strengthening the international profile of Tunisian culture. This membership represents a valuable addition to the portfolio of Tunisian cultural institutions and events participating in international cultural cooperation and exchange.
The membership certificates are awarded by the Steering Council of the Network of Silk Road Arts Festivals, in cooperation with the Shanghai International Arts Festival Center in China.
This latest development adds to the existing participation of the Carthage Theatre Days and the Carthage International Festival in the same network, alongside the Oussou Festival and the Tozeur Oasis Festival, which have been registered in recognition of their distinctive character and unique cultural identity. This reflects the richness and diversity of Tunisia’s cultural landscape, encompassing both contemporary artistic events and festivals deeply rooted in local heritage and collective memory.
The Ministry of Cultural Affairs renewed its pride in all initiatives that contribute to consolidating Tunisia’s cultural presence on the international stage and strengthening its position as a space for creativity, diversity, and intercultural encounters.
The growing presence of Tunisian cultural institutions and events within international networks underscores the importance of culture as a bridge connecting peoples and as a platform for dialogue, the exchange of expertise, the preservation of cultural identities, and the promotion of their distinctive characteristics.
It also creates greater opportunities for Tunisian cultural practitioners to engage with new experiences and develop partnerships that support the sustainability of festivals and expand their international reach, according to a statement issued by the Ministry on Saturday evening.
